Ashraf Alkhairy, a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, is the former Founding dean of the College of Engineering at Alfaisal University. He has served as the Dean from July 2006 until March 2009.
Initially, he was appointed as the Engineering, Research and Technology Officer, and a Senior Member of the Alfaisal University Core Team commencing on October 2005. He was responsible for developing the strategy for the engineering academic program, and research and technology; and proposed the engineering undergraduate and graduate curricula. He also developed the framework for the technology incubator and information technology.

From July 2006 until March 2009, Ashraf was appointed as the Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He developed the College of Engineering strategy, established it, and chaired the advisory committee of 12 senior faculty members from MIT and Cambridge.
He developed and strategized the curriculum, designed the facilities, recruited and trained the faculty, and mentored students. Ashraf Alkhairy served as themember in the Alfaisal University senior leadership and was a member of University Council, Council of Deans, and the Council of Administrators.

Alkhairy holds Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D.in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has various honors and awards to his credit. He won the Guillemin prize for best undergraduate thesis in EE and later he became a Member of Sigma Xi honorary research society.
In May 2005, he was awarded an Executive Masters in Business Administrationdegree from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM)with top honors. He studied Economics and Finance at MIT and Harvard. He has taken training in project management, information technology and software engineering.
